Short answer: there is no Seedance 3 release date. As of November 2, 2026, ByteDance has not announced Seedance 3 or Seedance 3.0, and nothing on its official pages points to one. The newest Seedance model is Seedance 2.5, released on July 31, 2026. This page explains what we checked, what the release history suggests, which "Seedance 3.0" stories are only rumors, and how you'll know when the real launch happens.
We run an independent Seedance generator, so we have a reason to watch closely: the day Seedance 3 is available through our API provider, we add it. That also means we have no reason to pretend it's out before it is.
Where we looked
A new Seedance model has always appeared in the same places first. On November 2, 2026 we checked each of them:
- ByteDance Seed homepage (seed.bytedance.com). The featured models are Seed2.1, Seedance 2.5, Seedream 5.0 Pro, SeedRealtime and Seed Audio 1.0. The latest updates are dated October 14 (a recruitment post), August 5 (SeedRealtime) and July 31 (Seedance 2.5). No Seedance 3.
- Seed model list (seed.bytedance.com/en/models). Under GenMedia the video model is Seedance 2.5, with links to the BytePlus playground and Dreamina. No Seedance 3 page.
- Seed blog. The last Seedance post is the 2.5 launch, "One-take Creation, Flexible Referencing: Introducing Seedance 2.5", dated 2026-07-31.
If ByteDance had released or even previewed Seedance 3, at least one of these would show it. None does.
The Seedance release timeline so far

What the gaps tell us, and what they don't
From 1.5 pro to 2.0 took 58 days. From 2.0 to 2.5 took 169 days, about five and a half months. On November 2, 2026, Seedance 2.5 is 94 days old.
It's tempting to project a date from that, and plenty of sites do. We don't, for three reasons:
- Two gaps are not a pattern. One was two months, the other more than five.
- ByteDance has used half steps before (1.5 pro, 2.5). The next Seedance could be a 2.6 or a 2.5 update rather than a 3.0.
- Model launches depend on things outside the research calendar, such as compute, app rollouts and legal review. None of that is public.
So the honest answer to "when will Seedance 3 come out?" is: when ByteDance says so, and it hasn't.
The Seedance 3.0 rumors, and how they held up
The name "Seedance 3.0" took off in February 2026, only days after Seedance 2.0 launched. Posts on Chinese social media described a model said to be in its final development phase. NDTV Profit summarised the claims on February 17, 2026:
- single takes longer than 10 minutes, with internal tests said to reach 18 minutes
- a "narrative memory chain" that keeps plot, characters and settings consistent across scenes
- audio and video generated together, with lip-sync in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean
- storyboard scripts and director-style camera commands as input
- about one-eighth of Seedance 2.0's cost per minute of video
None of this has been confirmed by ByteDance. The article itself calls them leaks and rumors. It's also worth noticing what ByteDance actually shipped next: Seedance 2.5, with 30 seconds per generation and extension in rounds. Extension lets ByteDance's own apps build multi-minute videos, but a single pass is 30 seconds, not 10 minutes. Treat any Seedance 3.0 spec sheet built on those February posts as speculation.
What ByteDance has said about its next steps
The only official pointer is the closing section of the Seedance 2.5 launch post. The Seed team writes that it will keep working on:
- more coherent storytelling
- a more intuitive generation and editing experience
- a deeper grasp of real-world physics
It also admits where 2.5 falls short: the physical plausibility of complex motion, and stability in scenes where several subjects interact. Those are reasonable guesses at what the next model will improve. They're still not a feature list, a version name or a date.
How you'll know Seedance 3 is real
When Seedance 3 launches, expect most of these at once:
- a project page on seed.bytedance.com, like the existing
seedance2_5page - a launch post on the Seed blog with a date and sample prompts
- the model in ByteDance's own apps (Dreamina, Jimeng, Doubao)
- a model ID in BytePlus ModelArk, ByteDance's API platform, possibly later than the apps (at the 2.5 launch, API access was announced as "coming soon")
A YouTube thumbnail, a "Seedance 3.0 is here" landing page or a waitlist form is not one of these. Several sites already call themselves Seedance 3.0 generators; whatever they run, it isn't a model ByteDance has released.
What to use until then
Seedance 2.5 is the newest model you can use, and it's what most people searching for Seedance 3 actually want: longer clips with several shots and sound. On this site you can run it straight away on the Seedance 3.0 status page, where the generator is already set to 2.5, or on the Seedance 2.5 page. Clips run 4 to 30 seconds at 480P, 720P or 1080P, from a prompt, a first and last frame, or reference images, clips and audio. When Seedance 3 becomes available through our API provider, it will appear in the same model menu, and the credits you already have will work on it.
